We specialize in custom pond creation on a large scale. We have completed ponds from 40,000 gallons to just under 1,000,000 gallons.
Customizations can include waterfalls, sand beaches, fishing docks, aeration systems, and much more.
I got my general contractor’s license in 1996, and have done all kinds of construction over the years from custom home construction to tile installation to handyman work. But excavation has always been a passion for me. I am always exploring new ideas for pond construction and design, as the industry evolves over time. Each client I work with has their own creative ideas for their pond, whether they are using it for irrigation, swimming, fishing, or simply to improve their view. The best part of my job is getting to collaborate with homeowners on how this pond can be something they enjoy for decades.
I have handed the reigns to the younger generations but hopefully my influence is felt in every project. Since retiring, I spend my time fishing, building classic cars and helping my son build amazing ponds.

Dan Lahey:
part one
Growing up in Bend, Oregon with a father who worked in excavation for many years, I have always enjoyed all aspects of this job I have made my career. Whether it’s helping a homeowner complete their dream pond or putting in the road to get there, I love being able to use my equipment to create beautiful spaces. My father, Mike, still works with me occasionally at job sites, having owned Black Rock Excavation back in the 1980’s. He’s now retired and so I named my company Silver Rock Services as a nod to him and the many skills he taught me.

Stratton Lahey
Since graduating high school, my typical day consists of climbing in a piece of equipment and moving rocks and dirt. Sounds simple, but when I see what I can accomplish in just a few days or weeks to completely change the look of a property, I’m happy to do it. I was born and raised here in Bend, Oregon and have always been a person who knew I would work outdoors. If I could get paid to hunt or fish, I would do that! But until then, excavation allows me to work outside and with my hands.
Mike Lahey
I grew up in Sandwich, Illinois, but Bend became my home in 1971. I’ve had many careers over the years – I ran equipment in the logging industry, worked in equipment purchasing and sales, as well as owning my own excavation company, Black Rock Excavation.
I have handed the reigns to the younger generations but hopefully my influence is felt in every project. Since retiring, I spend my time fishing, building classic cars and helping my son build amazing ponds.
